About
Hello, my name is Travis Bennett, and I created Tucson Code School to provide free education to kids curious about coding. I started coding when I was around 12, but struggled teaching myself at such a young age. Eventually, I moved away from coding but I always regretted not pursuing this interest. I decided to get back into coding a couple years ago and, since I believe teaching is as important as learning, I am passing along the lessons I've learned.
There is an incredible void in public schools for such an important skill. Coding will become as essential as reading in the coming years, and I want to teach these valuable skills to the next generation so they may take control of their future.
At this time TCS is for kids aged 12-17. However, there are plans to expand the program to ages 8 and up. The school is currently looking for a new location to provide services, if you can recommend a location, or have one, please send a message below. If you like what TCS is doing, consider donating. Your support not only keeps this program free to students, it also helps expand the program giving more kids the opportunity to learn computer programming!
